This course explores ESPN's 30 for 30 series and its cultural impact, with a special emphasis on the relationship between the films and exercise and sport science concepts. Some topics include: sport marketing and brand recognition, sport psychology, the coach-athlete relationship, sociology of sport, gender issues and sport, college sports becoming professional in how its run, and issues related to identity in sport. This course is designed for ESS majors, Sport Psychology minors, film enthusiasts, as well as anyone interested in learning how sport and exercise are discussed in a more comprehensive manner.
